With Andrew's mom here visiting it was inevitable that we go to a baseball game. She is a huge Blue Jays fan and I was excited to see a game with someone who could better explain the finer points to me since I don't exactly follow baseball all that closely.
We ended up at the evening game on Friday August 29, since the Saturday day game was already sold out when Andrew went to buy the tickets.
Overall it was a pretty fun time. The game started out quite slowly until Bautista (19) hit a homerun in the 4th inning to the pleasure of the many Blue Jays fans, but after that everything went downhill fast.
Honestly, I don't even know what happened. It was the 7th inning when Andrew and I decided that it would probably be a good idea to locate some soft pretzels. While on this mission (almost circling the entire stadium before finding any I might add) we heard cheering start to rumble. There were A LOT of Yankee fans in the stadium so we had no idea if the cheering was good or bad until we looked up and saw the score.
The Yankees had scored FIVE runs! We got back in time to watch the bottom of the 7th with Toronto at bat, they scored two runs, although at this point everything started to look a little bleak.
The Yankees would go on to score one more run in the 9th inning, ending the game with a score of 6-3. Although the Jays didn't win it was still an awesome experience, I never thought I would have the opportunity to see the Yankees play or be able to catch Derek Jeter scratching his balls on film.
All in all it was a lot of fun (minus the irritating Yankees fans sitting directly behind me.) We had great seats and it was nice to be at a night game where I'm not forced to re-apply sunscreen on an hourly basis. My only complaint... Not enough soft pretzel stands!
